Press firmly on either side, build padding around the object, and avoid pressure directly on it. Pulling it out could cause further injury and increase bleeding.
Cool the burn with cool running water for 20 minutes, remove nearby clothing or jewellery unless stuck, and seek help if needed.
Make the scene safe before helping, then call 999 early when needed.
Cover loosely with cling film or a clean non-fluffy dressing and keep the person warm.
If someone is in cardiac arrest, call 999, start CPR, send someone else for a defibrillator if possible, and follow the AED voice prompts. Switch it on as soon as it arrives - it will tell you what to do.
Use a clean pad or dressing if possible and bandage firmly. Call 999 if you can not control the bleed.
Switch off the mains; do not touch the person until the electricity is off, then assess breathing and call 999.
Use their adrenaline auto injector and do not stand them up. Follow the advice of the 999 operator.
Find out what was swallowed, do not give food or drink unless advised, do not induce vomiting, and stay with the person and call 999.
